New York, New York – September 11th 2012 – Today crosswalks across New York City were transformed into American flags, as an anonymous group of students commemorated the 11th anniversary of 9/11. These crosswalks can be sighted at three locations: the intersection of Barclay and Church st. in the financial district, North 6th Ave and Bedford Ave in Williamsburg, and Prince and Broadway in Soho. Each crosswalk is painted with temporary spray chalk, alternating red and blue stripes, along with white stars and the message, “Live for Today 9/11.”
“We want to honor the memories of those lost on that tragic day,” said a spokesman for the group, “But we also want to remind people that living in fear of what might happen is no way to live. Live for today.”
